SSRI Medications - HIMS

If you are an airman who uses a Selective Seritonin Reuptake Inhibitor (SSRI) medication such as:

  • Celexa (Citalopram Hydrobromide)

  • Lexapro (Escitalopram Oxalate)

  • Prozac (Fluoxetine Hydrochloride)

  • Zoloft (Sertraline Hydrochloride)

the FAA requires additional testing, medical monitoring, and documentation for your FAA medical certification and recertification.  The FAA utilizes the Human Intervention and Motivation Study (HIMS) program for oversight of the process and requires airmen to be seen by a HIMS AME for their certification.

As your HIMS AME, I will oversee and help guide you on your pathway and progress through the certification and/or recertification process.  The pathway to certification while taking an SSRI can be complex.  As your HIMS AME, I can work through the issues quickly and efficiently helping you locate the specialists you may need to see, communicate with treating physicians, arrange the testing that needs to be performed, prepare the documentation the FAA requires for certification, and provide the required monitoring.

If you would like to speak to me about your current needs for certification or if you have questions regarding the HIMS SSRI Services I offer, please call, email, or fill out the "Questions?" box on this page.
